Operating System: Windows 7
App/Game Name: Paronicon 2
:
I'm trying to transfer my paronicon server from windows 7 to windows server 2008 R2.

I copied the folder to my windows server and I can start monitoring but I can't go to the server tab, no problem with all the other one like messages and rules or group tab.

everytime I try to go to the server tab, paronicon freeze and recover and reopen.

I tried Windows 7 to Windows 10 everything is working fine with the same files.

please help me.

With that crash, I should be getting a notification in my email. Ill check when I get home.

Do you have a domainexception or threadexception file in the installation directory?

Nope. Nothing. Do you have a firewall or anti-virus that would block P2 from shooting an e-mail? It may be getting blocked.

Do you know your way around event viewer? Can you see if there are any .NET crashes in there for it?

Well, that's befuddling. I'm not sure what's going on here.

What about a latestError.log in the installation directory? It's as if it's bypassing all exception handling I have in there. It attempts to (In order - if it fails, it moves onto the next):

1.) Recover and start the thread again

2.) Send an e-mail about the failure to me.

3.) Write domainexception or threadexception files to disc.

4.) Grab last error text and show it to you on screen.

5.) Log the error message to a file.

6.) Fails and starts recover.exe to fire it back up based on parameters passed around.

If none of these are happening, you are crashing in a way that I've not seen before and isn't being handled. The fact that recovery is running and starting it back up, would seem to indicate that the failsafe is at least PARTIALLY working though. Very strange. Does every other tab work? Does the watching and commands work? The only thing that it flip[s out on i the server tab?

Our messages crossed paths.....

That's perfect - that means your machine isn't letting the e-mail through, but that error helps. What does that say exactly?

Stop Paronicon and delete the .server_info files that are in the directory. Fire it back up and see what it does.

Upload the those files too (nothing confidential in them).

OK. Looks fine there. Try deleting the .players cache files. See what that does. If that doesn't work, I will just need you to shoot me your data folder again so that I can reproduce it in my test bed and see what is going on.

I have virtual machines of all the operating systems. I'll give it a whirl on it to see what I can find out.

Ok - Interestingly enough, I'm not seeing this behavior, on my 2008 R2 VM. I'm wondering if the .NET installation is messed up or something? It seems odd that it's errors out the way it is though. It seems to indicate that a configuration option is wrong, but that can be the case since it runs flawlessly in so many places. I might need to think about this one for a day or two. I will keep poking and let you know what I find. If you see messages or anything appearing twice, it's just me running some tests. :)

Additionally, when you have the problematic server running, do you see a 2.server_info and 2.players in the installation directory, or just ones for 1?

The behavior I'm seeing is that it's not working because it can't connect to the server (likely because I can't hit the server from the testbed and it's timing out since you have it local). This failure could very well be why I'm not seeing the same issue you are.

Take a look in the logs folder for the *server_name*.Server Watcher log file. See what is in it. If it's large, just the last 5-10 lines should suffice.
