So after almost a year and a half my Razer Kraken Pros are starting to shit out, I have a friend that is helping me pay for a new headset but I don't think we'll have enough to get the headset he suggested to me (Hyperx Cloud II's) So with a budget of $90 what would be a great multi platform headset that has surround sound and a microphone?

I never thought of the steel series, I've had a couple suggestions thrown at me from the Logitech G930's to the Corsair H2100's

Kingston HyperX Cloud IIs

I love these things, great mic, great audio, and if you play old games like me that don't support surround sound, its fantastic because the surround sound on/off is on the cord, not some silly program like Logitech.  I think it's also one of the cheapest headsets (outside Logitech) to have 7.1 surround.  Most of the 70-90 dollar head sets have no surround or only 5.1.

The red ones are also on sale where they come with a free Rainbow Six Siege, apparently, which is a god damn steal if you ask me.  4 dollars extra for a 60 dollar game...

But whatever you do DO NOT BUY LOGITECH HEADSETS.  If you get a decent one, they'll last you a while, but thats a big IF.  Mine lasted me a whopping 7 months.  The microphone died just before the right earpiece just fell off.  They use garbage plastic that starts cracking within a month, and if you ever knock them off your desk....RIP.  I've also heard that the G930s buttons like to break after a month or so.  Look at the Amazon reviews for the G930 and the G430.  They're awful.  The Cloud II has fantastic reviews on amazon and I love them.  The detachable microphone is amazing for me since I do a lot of single player and use them without the mic more often than with.

Also, the microphone on Logitechs sounds like a potato.

That's my second headset.  I've got two headsets, whatever my current nice one is (currently a Sennheiser that is crapping out on me, one side doesn't work anymore) and this guy.  Have had it for a couple years.  Had an identical one before that, replaced it only because I rolled over the wire and broke it.  Not a fault of the headset.  Good quality on both the mic and headset for its price.  I have a 'good set' only because yeah, these guys will get uncomfortable after a couple hours, but they always work for programs that don't want to cooperated with my Behringer/AT2020 setup.

*Don't buy a Logitech Gaming headset.  I actually used a 20 dollar Logitech headset for like 2 years...
