So if your a streamer on Twitch, large news about changes in the company came out today. It's not all good, but it's something that every streamer should be aware about.

Update to VOD's (Videos on demand, aka past broadcasts) on Twitch: http://blog.twitch.t...vods-on-twitch/

Important: Changes To Audio In VODS: http://blog.twitch.tv/2014/08/3136/

What do you guys think of these changes?

Personally, the VOD stuff sounds good. Would love to get VOD's viewable on other devices other then your computer browser. Also, after I stream it would always be a few days before I could go back and do highlights, and sometimes I would forget and they would already be deleted, losing out on great moments. Now, for TURBO users, your past broadcasts will stay for 60 days. A good amount of time to make highlights, which highlights will now last forever.

Now the audio stuff. This is going to suck. Any music you play while your streaming is now scanned. If copywriteed material is found (even ambient background game music), it will MUTE the audio in the VOD. I looked back and my VOD's have already been muted. This one was muted for 30 minutes because I think I played the price is right song: http://www.twitch.tv...bot/b/552917438

Welcome to Youtube owning Twitch..

Could you maybe have OBS also record your stream and upload it via another way with all the audio?

Question: Is Indie developed music that's posted on YouTube copyrighted? For example, could you use a re-made version of the song you wanted to use on your stream if it was "re-recorded" by and Indie artist?

Such stupid nonsense. I wonder if it is as easy to fool twitch, as it is to fool Youtube..... Hmmmmm

I haven't experienced this first hand yet, but I wonder how detailed their audio scanner is... I've gotten past audio filters before simply by bending the pitch/key of my background music a few frequencies higher. The listener can't tell a difference but the software doesn't detect or recognize the song.

I used nothing but clips from SoundCloud last night (most were 8bit dub remixes of games), and they still flagged 30 minutes of my video for copyright protection. Fucking stupid.

I'm just going to transpose everything that comes from my computer by .5 hertz.....

Make its pitch a few tiny frequencies higher or lower in an attempt to fool the computerized detection
